ALLEGATION IN PARLIAMENT
MINISTER ASKED TO INTERVENE(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. A request to the Minister of Health to take immediate steps to stop the sale of certain obesity-reducing tablets, if, as alleged, the active ingredient is a segment of a live tapeworm, which, when swallowed, develops into a full sized tapeworm, was made by Mr. W. E. Barnard (Labour, Napier) in an urgent question to the Minister iii the Houee of Representatives this afternoon. "The desire for a youthful figure," said Mr. Barnard, "induces many people to reeort to sundry forms of treatment, drugless and otherwise, and if an unecrupuloue pcreon or firm is catering for the public requirements in this direction by the horrible means suggested, urgent and drastic action is called for."
