LONDON SALES CONTINUE. GOOD COMPETITION. OPENING RATES MAINTAINED. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, September 22. At the wool sales 11,756 bales were offered, including 3935 from New Zealand. About 7490 were sold. There was good home and foreign competition at full late rates. There were some withdrawals of speculator's lots, owing to high limits. ' SYDNEY, September 22. At the Sydaey wool sales to-day 12,308 bales were offered- and 11,535 sold, also 216 bales were disposed of privately. There was good general competition and the market wae strong at the previous day's rates. Greasy Merino sold to 16% d. Wool experts declare that if prices remain at the present levels the financial return to Australia this year will be about £34,000,000. This would be slightly above last year's return. OVERSEAS MARKETS. AUSTRALIAN PRODUCE. SYDNEY, September 22. Following are to-day's quotations on the Sydney produce market:—Wheat: Firm in sympathy with improved tone overseas. Silo lots, 3/5% to 3/0; buyers' limit, 3/5%; bagged lots, 3/8. Prices in the country remained steady. Bagged lots were valued at 2/8%, and bulked at 2/7% on sidings. Flour, £10. 10/; bran and pollard, £5 10/. Potatoes, Tasmnnian, £0; Norfolk Island, new, £15; Victorian, £4 5/; American Onions, £33; oaten hay, £7 10/; maize, yellow, 5/4. The steamer Tanda brought a consignment of Japanese onions, but all were transhipped to New Zealand.
