N.S.W. PUBLIC DEBT.
Rises £23,750,000 in Last Year Of Lang Regime. COSTLY OFFICE BARRICADE. (United P.A.-Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The .Auditor-General's report concerning the finances of New South Wales states that the public debt during the year increased by £23,750,000, bringing the total or the State public debt to £303,750,000. The receipts of the Unemployment Relief Fund for the 12 months were over £0,000,000, compared with £4,250,000 for the previous year. Interest payments amounted to £15,726,989. Altogether 83 per cent of the unemployment relief tax was spent on fond relief. The Family Endowment Fun.l failed fto meet the claims, and expenses made in it by £1,068,000, and at June 30 it was £2,498,978 overdrawn. Income tax decreased £2,772,334, and at the close of the year £1,413,099 was overdue, chiefly because of the barricading of the taxation office during the conflict with the Federal Government. Between 25 and 30 men were employed for five weeks at £6 10/ each to guard the office. t
