ALOFT AGAIN.
'PLANE SALVAGED.
German Recovers Abandoned
Machine,
IN PERFECT CONDITION".
(United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 10 a.m.) PERTH, this day. • Hans Bertram, the German airman who was lost in the Wyndham district for three weeks with his companion, Adolf Klaussman, who has since lost his.
reason, returned to his abandoned 'plane with a mechanic. They reached Broome in the German's seaplane which they salvaged from Seaplane Bay, where it had been lying beached since May 15. The machine is in perfect condition.
Bertram and Klausmann had flown from China when they met disaster in a forced landing near Alice Island in the Wyndham district of North-West Australia. Lost for three weeks, they suffered severe hardships, physical and mental, and were in a pitiable plight when rescued by natives. Klausmann's mind became unhinged, but lie recovered later, though he recently suffered a violent relapse. The seaplane used by the airmen was practically intact. One of the floats was used in an effort to gain civilisation, but the engine was undamaged, and the machine suffered no other injury.
