FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES

MORE BUSINESS PASSING

There was an improvement in turnover on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday afternoon, and a big list of sales was recorded at the last call. At this morning's call there was a slightly better tone in banking shares. Australasias were asked for at £9 10/, New South- Wales at £27 10/, and New Zealands at £2 7/. The insurance section was very firm at late quotations. Pukcmiro Collieries were available 6d lower, at £1 6/. Farmers' Fertilisers were again in demand, and buyers advanced their offers to 15/0, with holders asking 16/9. Colonial Sugars continued to advance, with buyers at £47, and no sellers. There was no change in Government stocks. 5%, 1937'5, were sold 35/ cheaper than the last sale, but a half-year's interest has been paid in the interim. The Noon Call. At a quiet noon call a sale of Bank of New Zealands was reported at an advance of Id, and Government Inscribed Stock, 1937, 5% per cent, had further business at the same price as in the morning.
