SWIMMING.

The annual meeting of the University Swimming Club was held last evening at the college. It was marked with great enthusiasm. A record number was present and many new members were elected, whichaugurs well for a successful season. The balance-sheet, which showed a substantial credit, was discussed. A vote o£ thanks to the retiring secretary, Mr. Browne, was passed. Owing to the pressure of work, he was unable to accept office, for another term. The following officers were elected: — President, Professor Bartrum; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. . Stevens, H. Revel, J. W. Stanton, Professor Burbidge, Professor Ardern and Dr. K. Brown; club captajn, Mr. J. W. Gunn; club vice-captain, Miss Steele; secretary, Mr. Baragwanatib; treasurer, Mr. Gauver; auditor, Mr. J. Chambers; committee, Messrs. Thompson, Wooller, Bull, O'Meara, Browne, Fstzpatrick. There were also many young ladies present, who, in this department of sport, seem, just as keen as the men.
