OTAHUHU BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.

A meeting of the Otahuhu Benevolent Society was held last evening. The Kev. W. Gatman presided. The secretary, Mr. W. Kirkwood, reported that on application to the Bank of New Zealand they had been given a grant of £25 for the relief of women and children. They had ulso received a donation of £11 19/8 from the Otahuhu Technical High School. In all 221 relief workers had been supplied with garden seeds, plants and seed potatoes, at a cost of approximately £25. The Borough Council had Riven £5 5/ towards the coat. A request from the Auckland Social Workers' Association for £1 1/ as -an affiliation I'co was received with some surprise, one member remarking that they had linked up with this association for the purpose of giving and receiving information, and avoiding overlapping. The request was referred to the exocntive. The Mayoress, Mrs. H. T. Clements, reported on the activities of the ladies' committee, and addod that it had been decided to close the clothes depot, except for urgent cases. A few of the ladies were still sewing, although it had been decided to suspend the activities of the guild until after Christmas. Mrs. Clements said they would be grateful for any odd garments citizens could afford to send along. A warm tribute was paid to the splendid services rendered by the ladies who had attended at the depot, and to the ladies, numbering 40, who had given so much useful service in sewing. Mrs. Clements asked that the association record its appreciation of tho services given by the Anglican Church trustees, the Anglican Ladies' Guild, Sirs. Redshaw, and the* Otahuhu Ladies' Golf Club.
