JUSTICES OF THE PEACE.

ADDITIONAL APPOINTMENTS. UNLIKELY BEFORE NEW YEAR! (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. It is highly improbable that the next list, containing appointments to the Commission of Peace will be made before the Now Year. Questions concerning the appointment of additional justices were raised during last session of Parliament, and it was then clearly stated by the Minister of Justice that it was not his intention to make any additions to the present roll while Parliament was in session. No list lias been gazetted since, and it is gathered from the Minister, the Hon. J. O. Cobbe, that he docs not propose to issue one during the currency of the session, which opens to-day. Mr. Cobbe remarked that already there were approximately (5000 Justices of the Peace in New Zealand, and that regularly he received nominations for further appointments. In one day alone lie received ten proposals.
