AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE.

INVESTMENT STOCKS AND SHARES. COMPARISONS OF RECENT TRANSACTIONS. TO TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 1932. The following table furnishes a guide to investors. It shows the trend of the market over twelve months for a comprehensive list of securities, at the same time indicating the latest movements namely, from a week ago to the date of compilation. The rate of interest obtainable to present-day purchasers is also presented, the calculation being based on the latest dividends.

An outstanding feature of this week's results is a slight easing in some lines. This has been especially noticeable in the Bankirlg section, where New Zealands, Commercials and Unions have all lost some of the gains made in the preceding weeks. New Zealand Insurances have also receded from the peak price of £2 3/9, but Standards, in the same section, have moved up.

A tabic compiled by the "Christchurch Times," which is also published in this issue, shows that for the week ended September 13 a list of representative securities dropped from a percentage number of 83.1 to 80.(3.

Taking the long view, investors will note that many shares were close to their lowest level twelve months ago. Commercial Banks at that time touched 12/10, Goldsbrough, Morts were selling at 16/, Tooth's Brewery at the same figure, Henry Jones at 15/, and Electro. Zinc prefs. at 15/0. Several of these securities have almost doubled their value in the interim, but even at the increase are still well below the rates ruling before the slump.

Keturn on Debenture and Government Stock is based on price received at maturity and after payment of 10 per cent Stamp Tax. tSubject to English income Tax. tFrce of Income Tax. 'Subject to N.Z. Income Tax. Calculation based on Interim Dividend. interim Dividend Passed.
