SPRING RACING.

THE WANGANUI MEETING. PROGRAMME FOR TO MORROW. THE FIELDS REVIEWED. The spring meeting of the Wanganui Jockey Club will open at Wanganui tomorrow. Fairly good fields are engaged and the fixture should prove interesting to Aucklanders, in view of the approaching Avondale meeting, for several of the horses engaged are sure to be brought north. The Maiden Race. The scratching of All Supreme leaves a dozen in the Alaideu Race. IllummeUi, after her second to foenorita in a similar event at Marton, is sure to be in demand. (Jape of Good Hope started once last season without getting into the money, but both he and Cape Fair, who are owned by Mr W. R. Kemball, galloped well at Trentham last Saturday, covering half a mile in 49 4-ss, the latter being m front. Royal Papa was third to Merry Way and Silver Fern in the Urenui Hack Handicap, six furlongs, at the Taranaki Hunt meeting recently, and should again go well. Swift and Sure galloped well this morning. Linoleum is said to be promising. Dakar was made a warm favourite for the Maiden Plate at the Manawatu Hunt, and, though lie failed, should be improved. He finished third iu one of hie two starts last season, while Taitoru was third in the Opunake Scurry at the Taranaki Hunt meeting, lhe chief fancies may be

ILLUMINELLI ROYAL PAPA DAKAR. Okehu High-weight. Fernden, who beads the field in the Okehu High-weight, ran third in a similar event at Trentham last season. Henry of Navarre has shown good form over hurdles during the last few months, and he would only need ito do his best to have a good chance in this race. Warfille was third in a hurdle race at the Manawatu Hunt; while Bon Eve won on the flat and over hurdles last season. Auctioneer and Okapua look the most likely of the others. A trio that may appeal are HENRY OF NAVARRE BON EVE FERNDEN. Putiki Hack. A good field is engaged in the Putiki Hack Handicap. Tigerism won four sevenfurlong events last season and was placed up to a ftiile and a quarter,- but he may need a race. Kotaki Eka was second to Flower over a mile and a quarter at Mar- '' ton, after leading for the greater part of the journey. Air Laddie won the Newstead Handicap, seven furlongs, at the last Napier Park meeting, and is a likely sort. Arikitea has only had two races, both mile and a quarter events, and he has won the two of them. He will/.have support. Thrasher has also shown good form recently, winning over seven furlongs at Marton, and Tangiroa was third over a similar distance at the Taranaki meeting. Most of the money may go on ARIKITEA KOTAKI EKA THRASHER. The Seafield'Handicap. Refresher, the top-weight in the Seafield Handicap, was also engaged in the Flying Handicap, but he has been scratched.for the latter event. He should go well if started in the Seafield Handicap. Grand Jury and Chopin had a race in the Railway Handicap, six furlongs, at the Marton meeting. The former finished fourth, while . Chopin also showed that he would not be long in striking the winning list. Royal Bengal.failed at the Grand National meeting, after winning easily over, a mile at Trentham: He -has not raced since. Pomp 'and Korokio have been galloping well recently, while All Humbug won easily at Marton and Orby's Choice at the Taranaki Hunt meeting. Both the latter pair should be in the picture. The favourites may be . ALL HUMBUG ORBY'S CHOICE REFRESHER. The Durie Hack. , The largest field of the day is carded for the Durie Hack Handicap., Ganpat had his first race this season at Marton, finishing fourth. He should be improved. Davidstock was a good performer last season, winning three events up to seven furlongs, while he was only out of the money once in his other eleven, starts. Gay Court won two six-furlong races last season andwas second on seven occasions. . He failed ii his three starts at the Grand National, but he is not meeting the class to-morrow, he met at Riccarton. ChieF Marionette was third at Marton and may be improved. Bambury won at the same meeting and will have plenty of support. Dick Whittington was third over six furlongs at the same fixture. Late Jest and Posy both won as .two-year-olds last season and have been galloping well at Trentham. Of the others Carfex, Ida Merling and Merry Way look the best. Some who may be fancied arc

BAMBURY GAY COURT CHIEF MARIONETTE. The Marangai Handicap. • The Marangai Handicap is the chief event of the day. Ruanui, who finished second to Atholspear in the Marton Handicap last Saturday week, should be all the better for that race. Gibraltar showed good form up to r mile and a quarter last season and was third over a mile at the Taranaki Hunt meeting. Atholspear will have plenty of support after his recent success. Little Doubt and Teller have disappointed recently. The best supported may be . RUANUI ATHOLSPEAR GIBRALTAR. The Concluding Event. The open sprint, the Flying Handicap, will conclude the day's sport. Consent, should be all the better for his race at Marton. Aston is a good sprinter when right, while Orapai, who beat Consent in this race last year, was fourth at the Taranaki Hunt meeting. He has been going nicely at New Plymouth. View Halloo has not raced this season, but reports from Wanganui state that' he is very well. Royal Hunting performed prominently last season and should be in the money. La Moderne was a good two-year-old, and if anywhere near her best should be troublesome. Head Lady has been galloping well at Wanganui and she also should take some beating. Most money may go on ROYAL HUNTING ORAPAI LA MODERNE.
