ROAD TRANSPORT.
REQUEST FROM! BOMBAY. DEPUTATION TO LICENSING AUTHORITY. A deputation from residents of the Bombay - Ramarama districts waited on the No. 2 Licensing Authority to-day in support of an application for a readjustment of the Auckland-Tuakau motor bus services conducted by Loughrin and Mclvor. At present this firm runs two trips per day via Bombay and two further trips daily by this route were sought to meet the convenience of residents.
It was contended that the existing services from Bombay to Pukekohe and Bombay to Auckland were inadequate, and that through buses would not pick up passengers. The chairman of the authority, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, said something needed to be done for the Bombay-Pukekohe routes. If definite evidence was brought that the through conveyances would not stop when they had room, that would be investigated. He emphasised the necessity of regulating services so as to ensure their, successful continuation. The desirability in making provision for pupils to attend the Pukekohe High School when that service was considered was stressed. It was decided that the authority should visit the district to-morrow and investigate the services existing. The application was in the meantime deferred.
