THE VALUE OF LEMONS.

I was glad to see a letter in Saturday's Jdition on the above. Lemons have many other uses than those enumerated by "Materia Medica." Lemons and other citrus fruits supply lime as Nature intended, and they are Invaluable for building up the teeth. It W claimed that lime thus assimilated fills tooth javities, and the writer 'has found that his ;eeth have been freer from trouble since he ias drunk lemon juice in water. Lemons ire esteemed iby the medical profession as a .•allied antiseptic. For bruises, sores and othev skin affections lemons have a miraculous healng quality. In removing blackness of the skin or internal hemorrhage resulting, say, from a bump, the lemon's action is almost instantaneous. For cuts in shaving the lemon, though it smarts a moment, stems the flow af blood, and also prevents infection. Eczema ran be cured overnight by squeezing lemon juice on the affected part, as I have proved n the case of a child of mine who had eczema jehind the ears for some months. One appb;ation while the child was asleep cleaned it up overnight. "Materia Medica" mentions the importance of lemons to prevent eoldrs, and it should be pointed out how much better it w to prevent than to attempt to cure. He refers to lemons as an aid to digestion, and in this regard this juice may be substituted for vine--arar in dressings, etc.. with advantage. That the New Zealand public is not alive to t.ie *ahie of lemons is shown by the statistics. We consume far fewer lemons per head than jthcr countries. MATERIA MEDICA NO. 2.
