POINT CHEVALIER SAILING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING

The seventeenth annual meeting of the Point Chevalier Sailing Club was held last evening in the clubhouse, Mr. M. J. Coyle presiding. The annual report stated that the racinc events proved popular, 20 races being held, including the annunl regatta. The club was represented in the race for the Upton Cup and the Trevic Shield and made a good showing in each contest. A lecture by Captain 11. 11. Sergeant on the rule of the road was much appreciated. Both the annual picnic and prize night were successful. Thanks were due to the donors of trophies, also to Mr. Ivo Dennes for carrying out the club's art union. The balance-sheet, submitted by the honorary treasurer, Mr. 11. E. Bucklay, showed receipts totalling £147, which left a credit balance of £24. Assets were valued at £1522, with a credit excess of £730. Mr. IT. J. Kollinson, commodore, in moving the adoption of the report and balancesheet, paid a tribute to his officers and committee for their assistance during the past year. It had been a trying one and he hoped that only those who intended to work hard would accept office for the coming year. Mr. W. Allen and other speakers congratulated the club on its sound position and the success of its activities during the past season.

Mr. M. J. Coyle, when proposing a vote of thanks to Mr. Kollinson and to all tvlio had worked for the good of the club, made special mention of Messrs. 11. E. Buckley, honorary treasurer, R. L. Thorpe, secretary, .T. Saunders, clubhouse captain, and Mr. I. Dennes, honorary organiser of the art union. The following officers were elected for season 1032-3:!: Patron, Mr. Ernest Davis: vice-patrons, Messrs, J. A. Lee, M.P., and If. J. Schmidt: president (re-elected for ir>th year), Mr. M. J. Coyle; vice-presidents, as last year; commodore. Mr. IT. J. Rollinson: vice-commodore. Mr. E. D. Croad; rear-commodore, Mr. 11. Galbraith; honorary secretary, Mr. K. A. Thorpe; assistant, Mr. 15. h. Thorpe ; honorary treasurer, Mr. 11. E. Buckley ; honorary auditors, Messrs. Tom Courtney and F. Dyson ; judge, Mr. Kollinson : starter and timekeeper, Mr. H. Broadhead: liandicapper, yachts, Mr. J. Cleal; committee, Messrs. T. Tate, J. Saunders, J. Iladley. B. Donovan, C. McOuire, 11. Asher, T. Kollinson, J. Dryland, IT. Carlton. J. Morris, T. Cleal and 11. Webster; delegates to Yacht and Motor Boat Association. Messrs. E. D. Croad and 11. W. Stannaway. Mr. Coyle reported that arrangements had been made to have the front portion of the grounds down to the beach put in order, aiid the work would be started next Monday. Mr. Dennis reported that the art union was going very well and already a substantial amount had been banked. He was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mr. Coyle was also accorded a vote of thanks for his long service to the club and the district generally. Mr. Coyle suitably responded. Mr. T. Tate was the recipient of a trophy as the most useful member of the committee during the season. A vote of thanks to the Press concluded the business.
