IMPORTERS' INTERESTS.
LETTER FROM PRIME MINISTER
A resolution was passed at the meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce this morning that tho Government be urged that before the decisions on the tariff questions arrived at at Ottawa are put into effect representations from tho importers and other interests should be considered. In reply to a letter from the chamber regarding adjustments to the Customs tariff which might be required to be made in view of the decisions reached at Ottawa, the Prime Minister advised that until the Government had had an opportunity of carefully considering the result of the Ottawa deliberations it was not possible for any announcement to be made as to what action would be taken to give effect"to the agreements. At the earliest possible moment the Government would take the necessary action to give effect ■to the agreement* which had been reached at the conference. The- Prime Minister's letter was received.
