IDLE IN ITALY.
Success of Methods for Giving Work. a UNDER 1,000,000 UNEMPLOYED. LONDON, September 14. The Rome correspondent of the "Morning Post" says that statistically Italy is the most successful among the big nations in diminishing unemployment, which now is under the 1,000,000 mark. She is preparing to keep down the number in the coming winter. Orders have been given to "Mayors to provide all the extra work possible. Great motor roads are being constructed from Genoa, where new works are making it the best equipped port in the Mediterranean and the centre of transAtlantic traffic to North and South America. Venice, Florence, Naples, Milan, and other important cities are providing employment for thousands. In Rome at present 6000 men are engaged in street improvements.
