PRESENTATION.
Prior to his departure from the Official Assignee's office, Auckland, Mr. N. L. Roberts, who has been transferred to Hamilton, where he assumes the position of chief clerk, was presented with a canteen qf cutlery on behalf of the staff. in making the presentation the Official Assignee, Mr. A. W. Wattere, referred to the eleven years of service that Mr. Roberts had given in the Auckland office, and wished him success.
Sergeant J. Fitzgerald, of the Freeman's Bay station, who recently retired on superannuation after 36 years' police service, was farewclled at a, gathering at the Central Station. He was presented witli an armchair. Superintendent S. Till and Inspector J. W. Hollis recalled their early association with Sergeant Fitzgerald, and reference to the "officer's long and faithful service were made by Sub-Inspector T. Shanahan and Sub-Inspector T. Gibson. Sergeant Fitzgerald joined the force in Auckland, and subsequently served in the Waikato, Hamilton, Kihikihi, Wellington, Geraldine and Temuka. He returned to Auckland 15 years ago. He will live in retirement at Mount Albert.
