Players Beat Gentlemen By 47 Runs. HONE TOP-SCOR3R AGAIN. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, September 2. The Players beat the Gentlemen at Folkestone by 47 runs. Playere scored 194 and 370 (S. Worthington 129; M. J. C. Allom four wickets for 74). Gentlemen made 277 (B. W. Hone 136) and 240 (Hone 50; Freeman six wickets for 123), giving him a total of 11 for the match). There was very little further play in the Yorkshire (320) v. M.C.C. match, at Scarborough, it being left drawn after Marylebone had lost three wickets for 66. In a postponed match in the county championship series Somerset defeated Sussex on the first innings. Somerset, first innings, 303 (Ingle 107, Wellard 83); second, 100 (Tate fivo wickets for 42). Sussex, first innings, 250 (J. Parks and H. Parks each 83); second, nind wickets for 204 (four more runs were required to win).
