In a publication by: th,e .Industrial Health Eesearch Board (Stationery Office) teete of specific types of dexterity are described. Among the tests for sense of touch is one in which stripe of sandpaper of different degrees of coarseness have to be classified. In another, five i small metal balls of different sizes and weight have to be placed in the order of size by holding them, with eyes closed, between the first two fingers and thumb. Small weights hidden from eight are lifted and compared in pairs, in irregular order, to test the sensitiveness of the joints required 'by instrument-makers J and watchmakers. Great importance is laid on the performance tests, which, it is stated, provide a useful link between school work and definite vocational teets. One experiment consists of getting a ball out of a cage by the aid of certain sticks. The sticks provided were not equally suited for the task, and an important part of the observations was to note which was chosen. Putting match sticks into a row of small holes and threading needles are other teets.
