At the Sydney wool sales to-day, under very keen general competition, the hardening tendency noticeable since the opening was maintained. All descriptions of wool sold at the best rates of the week. Greasy Merino realised up to 16d. The offerings totalled 9438 bales, and 8885 bales were sold. Also, 5534 bales were disposed of privately. RANGE OF PRICES. ... / . Wool price averages at the current Sydney market are as follows:—Greasy Merino fleece, best, to 16% d; average, 12d to 14d; light, seedy or hurry skirts, good, 12d to 13d, average, lOd; inferior, 6d to 9d; burry fleece, good, lOd to lid; average, 8d to 9d; inferior, 6d to 7d; be.st broken, light seedy, to ll%d; average, B%d to 9%d; pieces, 9d to lOd; locks, to 4d; bellies, burry, to 7d; lambs, light, seedy, to 10% d; hurry, to 7d; comebacks and crossbreds, insufficient to quote.
