AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. The third round of the Auckland provincial amateur billiards championship for the Billiards, Ltd., Shield, was commenced on Wednesday night, when W. E. Hackett beat J. E. Knowles by 84 points. The final score was:—Hackett, 500, breaks of 27, 22, 53, 32. 20; Knowles, 416, breaks of 21, 48, 23, 26, 24. Last Night's Games. The Auckland provincial amateur billiards championship for the Billiards, Limited, Shield, was continued last, night, L. G. Hemus defeating K. Tait in the second game of the third round by 1-8 points. . The final scores were:—Hemus, 500; breaks, 21, 38, 27, 26, 24, 24; lait, 372, breaks 45, 26, 20. L. F. Holdsworth will play M. D. White to-night. JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. This competition for the younger players is creating ! deal of interest among the intending competitors, who are that' the nominations close on Saturd y All cames will be played on a strictly Standard table, and MrS assure competitors that the conditions will be all that could be desired.
