"DULEEP" REPLACED.

Paynter Chosen for Vacancy

In M.C.C. Team.

INDIAN MAY COME OVER LATER

(United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright)

(Received 12 noon.) LONDON, August 31

It is officially announced that in view of K. S. Duleepsinhji's illness, E. Payuter, the Lancashire left-hander, has been added to the M.C.C. team to go to Australia and New Zealand.

Duleepsinhji is unable to sail on September 17, but it is hoped that he will be able to join the team later. *

Paynter's choice is a surprise. Most critics expected E. Tyldeeley (Lancashire) to be chosen if another batsman was needed, or James ■ Langridgc (Sussex) if an all-rounder were required.

.Paynter, who will be 30 in November, is slightly built, and a good fieldsman, but fails" to suggest great confidence when he goes to the wicket, where he has a rather cramped stance. He is a strong hitter when set, and opened for Lancashire this season, so he may be Herbert Sutcliffe's partner.

For the Players, at" Folkestone, Ames scored 00 andKector 51, the side being dismrseed for 194. Calthorpe took four wickets for 52. The Gentlemen made 110 for three wickets.

At Scarborough, Yorkshire ran up 320 (A. Mitchell 102, Leyland 55) against M.C.C, the latter losing one wicket for seven runs.
