In America it provides the raw material for approximately one-third of the industries, yet supplies in that country are rapidly diminishing. Science has produced from softwood an almost inconceivable range of commodities, including- newsprint, all kinds of paper, artificial silk, celluloid, photographic films and explosives, as well <rt many others too numerous to mention.
