HYPNOTISM AND HEALTH.

1,. agree to a certain extent with. "PantagrueV- , but at thfr same tim 6 I think, there is still room for many improvements in hospital treatment. Perhaps "Pantagruel" could' enlighten me, as to why hypnotism- isf not used, instead of morphine in relieving.pain,.also'.for during anaesthesia in', cases' where chloroform or ether is considered dangerous. I have had the misfortune to be a;patient in three of the principle hospitals in New Zealand and have seen quite ■ a number of patients coming to after being operated on, and-judging by their suffering it must be most disagreeable to the patient, especially so after abdominal operations. With anaesthesia produced by means of hynoeis there is absolutely no bad after effects, and what is more the bleeding may be controlled by the hypnotist in many cases. As for diseases, I am positive every disease known to mankind will yield to that great unseen force which is known to us as hypnotism. Of course, much depends on the operator. Unfortunately, many persons have a fear of hypnotism, and they believe only weak-minded persons respond to the operator.TElowever, I can assure such persons that, used with every care, hypnotism is absolutely harmless, and from my personal experience weakminded persons are the most difficult subjects. Not for one minute do. I suggest that hypnotism should take the place of surgery or medicine, but I do maintain that it is the most powerful therapeutic agent known to man. HYPNOTIST.
