B. Roberton. The musical programme was arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Roger Fenton and Mies Fenton. The Rev. R. J. Stanton, who opened the fair, said the Government grant of £200 per annum was at present being withheld, thereby throwing added anxiety upon the board of management, and it was only by withdrawing about £1000 a year from capital that the homes could be kept open. While regretting the need for such an organisation, he said it was of supreme importance that every effort should be made to assist those who were unfortunate enough to need the care of the homes, and thus check the spread of what would otherwise become a paralysing evil. The hall was well filled, and the stalls sold their goods freely.
