RAPIDLY DEVELOPING.

NORTHERN WAIROA DISTRICT,

ENTERPRISE AT RKDHIIX. NEW ROAD BEING FORMED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) , DARGAVILLE, this day. Probably there is no other district in the Northern Wairoa which is' developing so quickly as the sandy gum country at Redhill, behind. Te Kopuru. It is stated that last season' the Northern Wairoa Co-operative Dairy Company took 56,5001b of butterfat from this area, and everywhere there are evidences of new- enterprise on the part of ■ the settlers—areas under the plough, tur-

nips and young grass brightening the landscape, new fences erected, and paddocks being subdivided. It is quite safe to predict that in the near future the area will carry double its present population, and that areas at present unoccupied or. carrying sheep, will be running herds of dairy cows.

The Hobeon County Council has had three gangs of about 50 men engaged, in straightening, widening and reforming the roads within the area, and many miles are already completed. It being sandy country, it is not necessary to metal the roads, which are open for traffic all the year round. At Repia a new road is being formed, also by relief labour. It leaves the main road opposite the church, and will give access to air area of rich river flats, which were recently subdivided and have had their titles cpnsolidated by the Maori Land Board. . . .:■ ■ ,

The Redhill residents have developed a trade with florists of the four large centres with flowering red heather. ,
