INFLATION AND DEFLATION.
There seems to be a tendency to argue as to whether deflation or inflation is the better remedy for -the present economic ills. It is a most extraordinary sort of argument, because there is really nothing to argue about. For all present purposes there are two classes of persons in the world—those who deal and traffic in money alone, the financier?, and those who produce or deal in everything else except money, the industrialists. 'Deflation is the best thing for the financier, and the worst thing for the industrialist. Inflation is the best thing for the industrialist and the worst thing for the financier.
