CLAY BIRD SHOOTING. A large gathering of shooters and visitors of the Metropolitan. Auckland and Tauhoa Gun Clubs attended the official opening of the Takapuna Gun Club on Saturday. Excellent shooting was witnessed during the afternoon. Results : — Seven-bird Eye-opener.—R. H. Bartley (14vds), N. Farner (11yds), R. Good (11yds) and I. Thomas (11yds), all shot the possible of seven birds each, and divided the sweep. The next best scores were: J. McGregor (14yds), J. Kees-George (14vds), L. J. Henderson (14yds), J. Miller (15yds), L. ,T. Stent (14yds), C. C. Rae (17yds), M. Good (11yds), and L. Peterson (17yds) who all shot six birds each. Fifteen-bird Match.—C. C. Rae (17yds), U. H. Bartley (15yds); L. Peterson (17yds), L. 3. Stent (14yds), I. Thomas (13yds). tied witli tlie possible of 15 birds and divided the sweep. In the shoot-off of five birds then first miss out, C. C. Rae, L. Peterson and L. .7. Stent dropped one bird of the live and they were eliminated. R. H. Bartley and I. Thomas continuing on, when" Thomas missed his twenty-ninth bird, Bartley getting his and winning first trophy Thomas taking second trophy. The performance of Thomas was outstanding, he getting all his 28 birds with the first barrel The next best scores were: L. J. Henderson (14yds), and M. Good (12yds) with 14 birds each ; J. C. Whitney (14yds), R. Hooper (11yds), and J. Rees-George (14yds), with 13 birds each. Seven-bird Gimcrack.—L. J. Henderson (12yds to 19yds), C. C. Rae (15-21 yds), and L. J. Stent (l-l-20yds), all shot the possible of seven birds and divided the sweep. J. McGregor (11-16 yds), J. ReesGeorge (12-18 yds). and R. H. Bartley (1419yds). shot six birds each. Six-bird Gimcrack.—J. Morgan (11yds to 15yds), shot the possible of six, and took the sweep. J. McGregor (11-16 yds), R. H. Bartley (14-19 yds), L. J. Henderson (14-19 yds), J. Eees-George (12-16 yds), and L. Peterson (14-lSyds), all shot five birds each. During the day J. Thomas shot 35 out of 30 birds (all first barrel), R. H. Bartley 47 out of 49, L. Peterson 35 out of 40. L. I. Stent 32 out of 34. C. C. Rae 32 out of 34, L. J. Henderson 32 out of 35, J. C. Whitney 24 out of 29, ,T. Rees-George 30 out of 35, J. McGregor 28 out of 35. J. Miller 23 out of 29, M.< Good 20 out of 22, N. Farmer 19 out of 22, R. Hooper 17 out of 22, R. Webster 17 out of 22.
