ROWING.
WEST END'S NEW RACER. The now clinker racing four, the sift of Mr. C. O. Herdman to the West End Rowing Club, arrived on Tuesday by the Zealnndla from Australia. The new boat, to be known as the C.G.H., built to comply witli the X.55.A.U.A. regulations, has line racing lines anil has met with very favourable comment from the club officials. The racer looks her part—it will rest with the members to do theirs./ A feature is that the boat is poppet rigged and so built that (be rigging, may be alternated either left or right. The club's present boats are all rigged on the left. The boat was taken to the shed on Thursday by intersporting enthusiasts voluntarily Tinder the valuable guidance of Mr. Webb. It is nearly 12 years since the last racing boat was purchased and members were agog to look the new racer over. * The donor of the boat, Mr. C. G. Herdman, is the club secretary, and in addition to his handsome gift he has also donated trophies to the club for trial racing.
