"BIT OF A BOMBSHELL"
FIRE BOARD TO PAY TRAFFIC FEES. CHRISTCHURCH COMMENT. (By Telegraph.—rress Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. "This is a bit of a bombshell. AVe have ten fire engines, and about £250 will be involved," explained the chairman of the Fire Board, Mr. T. M. Charters, when advice was received from the City Council that the board's engines were required to take out heavy traffic licences. It was decided to refer the matter to the inspector of fire brigades and the fire boards in the three other centres to obtain information which might be of assistance in dealing with the request.
