EPSOM PRESBYTERIANS.

WELCOME TO MINISTEK. PRESENTATION TO SESSION CLERK Tho new minister of the Epsom Presbyterian Church, the Rev. J. W. McKen/ie, was welcomed last r.igllt at a church gathering. Mr. S. J. Harbutt, who presided, said he felt sure the unanimity of the call and the large congregations that assembled last Sunday would give thennew minister some indication of their feeling towards him and his family. Mr. McKen/.ic had earned an enviable reputation for his work, particularly with the young, and in no department of life would he find a more responsive band of young people than was to be found in Epsom. The women of the P.W.M.U. had been looking forward with delight to the coming of Mrs. MeKen/.ie, and her children would be an additional tie to bind the hearts of the mothers to the manse. In the names of the sessions managers, the P.W.M.U., the Bible classes, the Sabbath school, and all other organisations of the church, Mr. Harbutt extended to Mr. and Mrs. MoKeilzic a most cordial welcome to Epsom. Welcomes were also extended by the Rev. D. D. Scott, 011 behalf of the Presbytery; the Rev. I-;. D. Patchett, the Rev. *.J. L. Litt, and Mr. Rogers, on behalf of other churches in the district: and by the Rev. J. A. Thompson, on : behalf of the neighbouring Presbyterian Churches.

During the evening an excellent musical programme was given, those contributing being the Balmoral Quartet. Miss Mary Thomson, and Miss Molly Gray. The chairman made warm reference to the work of the session clerk, Mr. J. F. Nelson. During a vacancy hi the pulpit the clerk had to assume a great deal of responsibility and perform many extra ditties, and Mr. Nelson had filled the office splendidly. As a token of regard the meeting passed a vole of thanks to Mr. XeLson, and he was also the recipient of a souvenir.
