NOTES FROM ELLERSLIE.
ARRIVALS FROM THE SOUTH. ADDITIONAL RIDIXG ENGAGEMENTS. There was very little doing at Ellerslie this morning, and the majority of the horses were confined to pace work on the sand track and in the centre. The latest additions to the active workers include Purir'i Park, Karangapai and United, all of whom, have been spelling since last autumn. -The latest arrivals include Chief Link in charge of J. Brown, and Trouble and Commentator, in charge <>{' L. Knapp. Chief Link looks a.very.fit horse, and has thickened mit a good deal since last autumn. L. G. Morris has been engaged to ride him in both the Jellicoe and .the Dunedin Handicaps. He is a certain starter in the. Jellicoe Handicap, and, providing he conies through that race satisfactorily, lie will contest the sprint event later in the day. I/. Knapp's two horses also look in first-rate condition, and have evidently done a lot of work. They will probably be schooled over the steeplechase fences to-morrow. R. Miles will ride both these jumpers in their engagements at the meeting. Additional riding engagements are:—H. Dulieu, Lurina; R. McTavish, Corinax; 1 ,, . E. Baker, Catoma, Jewelled Girdle; A.
