OUT OF DANGER.

TWO INJURED AIRMEN. CRASH IN CHRIST CHURCH. ONE LOSES AN EYE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Squadron-Leader Findlay and Leading Aircraftsman Simpson, who crashed from a height of 1000 ft in a Grebe aeroplane yesterday, are out of danger.

To-day's hospital reports state that Squadron-Leader Findlay is badly cut about the head and has a broken nose and broken ankle, but his condition is not serious and lie is progressing well.

Aircraftsman Simpson is out of danger, but he has had one eye removed, and the sight of the other may be lost.

Experts believe that the crash was caused by the elevator control failing. Squadron-Leader Wilkes, Director of Air Services, arrived from Wellington this morning and visited the airmen in hospital.

An examination of the wrecked machine was carried out this morning. An official inquiry will be held later on when Squadron-Leader Findlay has recovered sufficiently to be able to give his version of the crash.
