OVERSEAS MARKETS.

TALLOW, HEMP, EGGS, FRUIT. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated August 6, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—Market shows very little change. Auction will be held on August 10. Hemp.—Manila: Market quiet but steady, with prices lower, owing to 20 per cent freight reduction. Closing value of "K" grade for August-October shipment, £16 5/. Sisal: Market quiet but steady, with no material change in value. Newi Zealand: Market unchanged, with no firsthand sales reported.

Eggs.—Market steady, with firmer tendency. No change in prices.-

Fruit. —Apples: Trade slower, with tendency weaker. Granny Smiths show signs of scald. English apples in the market, also American Gravensteins. Current prices for New Zealand apples:—Granny Smith, 14/ to 20/: Dougherty and Rokewood, 11/ to 13/; Yates, Sturmer, Tasma, Pioneer and Rome Beauty, 10/ to 12/; Jonathan, Delicious and Ballarat, 10/ to 11/; Statesman, 9/ to 11/; Brighton, 8/ to, 11/; Dunn's Favourite, 9/ to 10/; Edward' Lippiatt, 7/; Salome, wasty, 4/ to 6/.

WHEAT CARGOES, ETC. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, August 8. For wheat cargoes sellers are asking an advance of 6d to 9d, with buyers apathetic. Parcels are firm at 6d to 9d dearer. Futures: London, September, 26/2 per quarter; December, 25/11; Liverpool, October. 5/6% per cental; December, 5/7%; March, 5/9%. MARKET FIRM. Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Company have received the following cable from their London principals, Messrs. Trengrouse and Nathan, Tooley Street, dated August 8: — Butter.—lo6/ to 107/ per cwt. Market firm.
