"G. A." (Onelmnga): (1) Any income in the case of an adult male. (2) The general levy of 5/ a quarter is payable by all males of 20 years and upwards, excepting totally disabled war pensioners, persons receiving allowances under the Pensions Act, 1920, students not receiving wages, and special cases decided after investigation. (3) Sixpence a week, if the amount represents wages, 0/0 a quarter if it represents income other than salary or wages. (4) The emergency unemployment charge of 1/ in the £1 on income other than salary and wages can be paid in one sum or in equal quarterly instalments, with the general levy, on the first of February, May, August, and November in each year. The first payment under the new legislation was payable on May 1 last. Under the 1931 Act, which introduced this special charge, then 3d in the £1, the first payment was due on November 1. 1931.
