The prices of raw materials must increase, or civilisation will crash, declared Mr. W. M. Hughes at a-Leicester sales managers' luncheon. The problem, he said, wae'one of consumption, not of production. There could be no more cutting down because the world had reached bedrock. Justifying Australia's secondary industries, Mr. Hughes remarked that there was still a wide margin for British manufacturers tc operate on.
