Dr. Paulina Luisi, already a delegate of her Government to the Disarmament Conference, has been nominated as the chief delegate for Uruguay to the Air Committee of the conference. She was the only -woman member, and a full Government delegate of the extraordinary meeting of the League assembly summoned to deal with the Sino-Japa-nese conflict. These are honours worthily awarded to a distinguished woman, and Dr. Luisi is congratulated that one Government at least is able to make appointments on merit without distinction of sex.
