The control of the pool will be taken over by the Auckland Metropolitan Unemployment Relief Committee, and will be transferred from quarters in Commerce Street to the building used by the Metropolitan Committee in Hobson Street. The decision to change control was made in view of the inability to secure necessary funds to carry on the pool. Mr. J. S. Brigham, honorary treasurer, reported at Tuesday's meeting of the pool that he had written to the Rehabilitation Committee stating that the Relief Committee was prepared to take over the boot pool, provided that the 115 carcases of maat held in cold storage and available to the pool were placed at its disposal unconditionally, and on the understanding that the finances of the pool were as hac been disclosed. Brigham said that the limit of financial responsibility the relief committee was expected to assume was the £120 deficit mentioned. It was decided that the matter be deferred until the next meeting, so that an audited statement of tin boot pool's finances could be supplied. Sir George Richardson reported that he had been in touch with Mr. S. J. E. Closey, the originator of the boot pool, and had been told that a financial statement would be furnished and the pool handed over on th 3 terms laid down. It was decided that the Relief Committee should make itself responsible for the supply of .leather to the pool for one week, financial assistance not to exceed £10.
