LATE RACING.

TRAINING AT RICCARTON. WORK INTERFERED WITH. SNOW, FROST AND FOG. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. This should have been a. busy morning at Eiccarton, and a krga crowd of spectatoi's turned out in anticipation of seeing some good work. The conditions, however were all against trainers, and it proved a wasted morning. The previous days' snow had not entirely disappeared, and a severe over-night frost made ' the ground very hard. The sun did not come out till late and comparatively few horses galloped! Later a fog made its appearance. Matu was one of the early /workersjumping eight steeplechase fences in good style. Muff ran six furlongs in 1.10 -2-5.. Riri, with Karaka over the last part, Tan seven furlongs in 1.32 1-5. Palantui covered six furlongs in 1.20 1-5. Nightguard, Hurlingham, Water Polo and 84m Smith ran half a mile in 525, Rahelagfe doing a, similar distance alone. Ai-towmir outpaced Irish Chieftain over five furlongi in 1.4. Elude ran six furlongs, Rational 11. joining him for the last five furlongs' which they ran in 1.5. Ravine ran sevea' furlongs in 1.36 2-5. Don Jose, assisted by Pixie Gold over the last half-mile, ran six furlongs in 1.18 4-5. Locksley traversed a similar distance In 1.21 2-5, Robin HooH assisting him over the early stages. High. Pitch, Paris and Taramoa ran st mile iiv 1.55 2-5. Saltpot covered seven furlonia 1 in 1.33 2-5. mi

A number of other horses worked'oa the course proper without being gailopeij' seriously, while others did strong- pace work on the grass circuit outside: tha schooling hurdles. One result of to-day'* easy day is ithat there may be a lbt'ot galloping to-morrow. |, ' t * ; <B»
