GOODE RESIGNS.
Only Alternative After Result Of Inquiry. CLEARY REAPPOINTED. SYDNEY, July 28. The Chief Transport Commissioner, C. J. Goode, whom the Royal Commission in its report yesterday found guilty of serious misconduct when in the railway service, has tendered his resignation to the Minister of Mr. M. Bruxner. Goode's letter of resignation contained the following passage:—"l feel that the terms of the Royal Commissioner's report leave me no alternative but to resign my office." Mr. Bruxner comments that the report completely vindicates the present Government. The former Chief Railway Commissioner, Mr. W. J. Cleary, whom Mr. Lang retired to appoint Mr. Goode, will be reinstated in his original position, also Air. S. Maddocks, chairman of the Metropolitan Transport Trust. Amending legislation will be passed for this purpose.
