FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES. BUSINESS MODERATE. Business on the local Stock Exchange has been comparatively quiet over the last 24 hours. There has been little animation in any section, though insurances seem to be most in favour with investors at the moment. New Zealands, with a dividend payment imminent, had a sale at £2 0/0, after which holders asked £2 0/9. Queenslands were again on offer at £2 5/, bringing a buyer at £2 1/. In Government stocks 4 ] /2's seemed easier, buyers dropping their oilers to £95' 15/, but holders did not respond. Five i and a half's were still wanted at £101. Sharland's shares were asked for, and buyers moved up to 12/ for the ordinary and 13/ for the prefs. Whitcombe and Tombs shares were wanted, and there were buyers at £2 0/.
