ADVANCES TO FARMERS.

PURCHASE OF WINTER FODDER TERM CONSIDERED TOO SHORT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) TE AROHA, Thursday. When the Minister of Agriculture was at Manawaru last month to inspect the ravages of the grass grub, he stated that Government assistance would be available for the fanners who had to purchase dry food for their stock during the winter months. Five years was the term suggested for repayment of advances. Later several applications were sent in, but when the applicants received printed forms it was found that amounts borrowed must be repaid within ten months. Advantage has not been taken af the Government offer, as farmers do not feel they will be in a position to repay loans in such a short time. In tho meantime a number of farmers whose lands are affected by the pest, ire not looking forward to a payable lairying season.
