ONE-HOUR PARKING.
NEW WELLINGTON BY-LAW. APPROVAL OF MOTORISTS. "We think that the new by-law is a big improvement, on the existing one," said Mv. E. A. Batt, president of the Wellington Automobile Club. "Actually it does give relief to business people in the centre of the city by providing for one-hour parking instead of 30 minutes, as has been the case for the last five years. The hour does allow a business man reasonable time to look round and make his purchases in the wholesale houses or to consult with indentors. Similarly it-gives people reasonable time to do their" shopping, consult their lawyers, dentists, doctors or anyone else. » "We want people to come and do their shopping in Wellington, and not harass them with- restrictions while they are here," said Mr. Batt. .'Tor that; reason I think there should l>e provision ; ;made'for all-day parking, without having" to go'to the outskirts of the city.. Z would not have anything of the sort in the narrower and busier streets —that : would be unreasonable. But there is no reason why such provision should not be made in the wider and less congested thoroughfares."
