OBITUARY.
MR. HUBERT R. HOGG.
A well-known Opotiki resident, Mr. Hubert R. Hogg, died on July 23, aged 67 years. He was born in Kent, and educated at Tunbridge Wells College. Mr. Hogg arrived in New Zealand in 1881 by the ship Hermione, and went as a cadet for a few years to the farm of the late Mr. Murray, which place lie subsequently purchased. Later, Mr. Hogg bought a large farm fronting the Waioeka road. This he sold to the Government to be cut up for settlement by returned soldiers. Mr. Hogg .then retired to live at Opotiki. He was one of the founders of the Opotiki Dairy Association, and officiated ae chairman of directors from 1914 to 1928. He was also a member of the Bay of Plenty Hospital Board for 20 years. Later, he was chairman of the Opotiki HospitalBoard and a member of the County Council. Six years ago, when the Bay of Plenty Power Board was formed, Mr. Hogg was elected chairman, which position he had held ever since. He was also one of the original members of the Opotiki Fire Board. Mr. Hogg was twice married, hie first wife having died several years ago. There were three daughters and three sons. One son died in the Great War and another while a pupil at the Auckland Grammar School. Mr. H. R. Hogg, solicitor, of Sydney, is the other son. The three daughters are Mrs. Lloyd Francis, of Papakura, Mrs. Rupert Morton, and Mrs. Hedlcy, of Auckland. Mr. Hogg is survived by his second wife and two young children.
