HARRIERS.

CALLIOPE CLUB. The Calliope Harriera' Club held its annual senior anil junior clubs' championships at Birkenhend on Saturday. Ttfe courses were heavy after overnight rain, and the going was particularly hoavy in parts. The junior race was decided first over a good cross-country course of three miles, including bog and about a dozen difficult fences. The following lined up and were dispatched to a good start: A. Clow, R. Headland. G. Ireland and L. Lanigan. Clow went into the load and was never headed. At the trig station he was 200 yards ahead of Headland, with I.anignn and Ireland following. At Pupukc Road Clow was leading by a big margin, with the others well strung out. The finish was :— A. Clow, 17.52 1 K. Headland, 20.15 2 L. Lanigan, 20.20 8 G. Ireland, 21.84 4 The sealed handicap resulted :— G. Ireland. 4.20 1 L. Lanigan, 2.00 2 A. Clow, ser : 3 K. Headland, 45s 4 The senior race was over a 10,000 metres course, leading up Glenfield Road, as far as the trig station, then across difficult country to Lake Road, where half a mile of heavy paddock was met with. The trail then led ucross comparatively flat country for about a mile, when the course continued over a hilly .stretch and then down Glenfield Road again to the finish. The starters were : S. Andrews, A. Rowland, W. Whitniore, A. Clayton, W. McCombie, J. Silvester, G. Davidson, N. Cummlngs, B. Woodhnms. A. Giltillnn, A. Davis. Whitmore and Clayton went into the lead at the start, but Andrews and Rowland soon came up and took the lend. Two miles out Andrews was leading Rowland, with Clayton and Whitmore next nnd Davidson following. The ijrder did not ■ change much on the run home, and the finishing positions were :— S. Andrews. 39.0 1 A. Rowland, 40.42 2 W. Whitmore, 41.29 3 A. K. Clayton 42.15, G. Davidson 44.42, A. Davis 46.14. N. Cummings 45.10, B. Woodhnms 48.10. Gilfillnn and Silvester stopped to assist McCombie, who sprained his ankle badly in the first two miles. The sealed handicaps resulted: — A. Davis, 10.0 1 W. Whitmore, 2.45 2 G. Davidson, 5.45 3 Then followed : S. Andrews scr, B. Woodhams 9.0, A. Clayton 2.40, A. Rowland 1.0, X. Cummings 7.45.

Andrews and Whitmore will not be available for next week's inter-club race, Richardson lias loft Auckland, and McCombie will be incapacitated for the rest of the season. Consequently the club will only be able to enter a scratch team in the race. COMBINED TECHNIVAL-'VARSITY. The harriers of the Technical College Old Boys Athletic Club were the guests of the 'Varsity Harriers at .Mount Roskill on Saturday. A fine muster of SO athletes took part in a run of nearly eight mile?, the runners breaking up into three packs, under the leadership of G. J. Sceats. T. M. Wilson and It. C. Hazard. Three separate run-ins were held, with the following results :— Slow Pack.—Whitten ('Varsity) 1. Turbott ('Varsity) 2, Bainbridge (Technical) 3, Marshall (Technical) 4. Webster ('Varsity) 5. Neil (Technical) 6. ■ Medium Pack. —Pearson (Technical) 1, Knight (Technical) 2, Fraser (Technical) ;S, Watson ('Varsity) 4. Skynne ('Varsity) 0, T. Holmes ('Varsity) 6. Fast Pack. —Gudsell (Technical) 1, Barker (Technical) 2, Magee ('Varsity) 3, Cooper (Technical) 4, Goodwin ('Varsity) 3, Eiisoi- (Technical) 6. At the conclusion tea was served by the 'Varsity Club, Mr. R. G. Kirkwood. president of the Technical Old Boys Club, thanking them for their hospitality. The president of the University Club, Mr. G. J. Sceats, replied. LYNNDALE CLUB. The Lynndale Harrier Club held a 10,000 metres (6J miles) championship race on Saturday over a cross-country course, starting and finishing at the Avondale racecourse. A sealed handicap was also decided in the same race, A. Browne winning both. W. Briggs was second to finish, 30s behind the leader, with C. Browne third. B. Rigden (3.30) was second in the handicap event. All went off together, the starter being A. and C. Browne, W. Briggs, R. and h. McGregor, A. Clark, R. Hensnall, G. Heron, A. Anderson, T. Witham, W. Baker, S. Chappell and W. Fowlds. Good time was made at the start, the weather being perrect with little or no wind. SeverU dropped out en route, the finish was a good one. Result :— 10,000 Metres Championship.—A. Browne, 35.28, 1 ; W. Briggs, 36.7, 2: C. Browne, 88.50, 3. Also finished: R. Henshall, W. Rigden, A. Clark, W. Fowlds and A. Anderson. Sealed Handicap.—A. Browne (scr) 1, B. Rigden (3.30) 2, A. Anderson (6.0), 3. PAPATOETOE CLUB. There was a Rood field in the Papatoetoe Club's nine-mile cross-country run on .Saturday. The pack was led by D. Germann, the club captain. The results of the r«GO yards run-in were:—E. Tattler (25yds) 1, D. Germann (scr) 2, C. Littler (7uyds) 3. Time, 1.42.
