NEGLIGENT DRIVING.
FARM! WORKER'S LEG BROKEN. MOTORIST FINED AT PAPAKURA. (By Telegraph.—-Own Correspondent.) PAPAKURA, this day. Charges of negligent driving and having no driver's license were preferred against Edward Clement Sutton in the Papakura Police Court this morning before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M. C. A. Barton, a farm hand at Takanini, said he was walking to Papakura with a companion on April 23, about 7 p.m., being on the left-hand side of the road. A car approached from behind and struck him so that he had his leg fractured and was removed to the Auckland Hoepital. i The car was driven by defendant.
S. McKenzie gave corroborative evi dence.
Constable T. Holland said he found Sutton attending to Barton, who wa*s lying on the roadside. Sutton said that previous to the accident he had passed three cars with dazzling lights.
Questioned regarding his license, defendant said he possessed one, but later produced one issued since the accident.
A fine of 40/ was imposed on the charge of negligent driving and one of 20/ for not having a license.
