Mr. A- J. Archibald, of Christcliurch. is a visitor to Auckland. Mr. R. Girling Butcher, inspector of explosives, is at the Star HoteL Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P. for Thames, leaves by train to-night for Wellington. Mr. R. A. Walker, locomotive foreman at Auckland, returned from Wellington this morning. Mr. Theo Kelly, general manager of Wool worths (N.Z.), Ltd., is on a short visit to Christcliurch. Mr. Justice Frazer, at present in Dunedin, will preside over the sitting of the Arbitration Court there. Mr. J. P. McPhail, Mayor of Birkenhead, underwent an operation at the Auckland Hospital to-day. Mr. Clifford Ball, who came from England to play the carillon at Wellington, left for England by the Aorangi yesterday. Mr. F. O. Hamilton, of Nelson, has been selected to represent hop and tobacco growers at the Ottawa Conference Mr. F. D. Armour, for some years past supervisor of the Tauranga Poet Office, has been appointed postmaster at Turua, Hauraki Plains. Captain J. R, Roques, the French air "ace," who has been spending a holiday in New Zealand, left for Sydney yesterday by the Aorangi. Mr. J. Matthewson, general traffic manager at Wellington for the Union Company, and Mrs. Matthewson returned this morning by the Marama from Sydney. Mr. T. Imai, the head of a Japanese firm of exporters at Kobe, arrived this morning by the Marama. His intention is to visit the agents of his firm in Australia and New Zealand. Mr. R. W. Carrington, who will represent the Australian United Press at the Ottawa Conference, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Monowai. He anticipates joining the Australian delegation at Auckland. Messrs. A. J. Elliot, J. W. Savidan, R. Purdie, R. G. Foubistcr (Auckland), C. O. Evans, C. Gibbs (Tailiapc), members of the team to represent New Zealand at the Olympic Games, arc at present at the Grand Hotel in Wellington. The Mayor of Auckland, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, will leave this evening for Wellington to attend a meeting of the executive of the Municipal Association of New Zealand.
