WELL-KEPT SECRET
Experiments With New Fuel For Steamers. OIL AND PULVERISED COAL. LONDON, June 13. A well-kept, secret was revealed after the departure of the Cunard liner Scythia from Liverpool for America. This was that some of hen boilers were being fired > with a specially prepared mixture of 00 per cent oil and 40 per cent pulverised bituminous coal, made by a secret process. It is hoped that experiments with the new fuel, if succcssful, will result in big savings in the line's huge oil bill. Also it will have an important effect on British coalfields, as the Navy and the whole of the mercantile fleet are expected to adopt it in order to reduce fuel costs.
