SWEEPING DEFEAT IN N.S.W.
HUGE MAJORITY FOR UNITED PARTIES
EX-PREMIER HARD-PRESSED TO KEEP SEAT.
SEVERAL EX-LABOUR MINISTERS REJECTED.
The general election in New South Wales on Saturday resulted in an unparalleled defeat of Labour and a swing to the United Parties group, the anti-Labour strength in Parliament changing from a minority of 20 to a majority of 40. Features of the polling were the reduction of the ex-Premier's majority at Auburn from 8965 to 742, the number of Labour Ministers defeated, and the number of Lang strongholds that were captured.
