NEW USE FOR OLD PAPERS,
THE POOR MAN'S FUEL.
(To the Editor.)
Thfe cold weather I don't know if it.is generally known that anyone can have a good, hot, lasting fire without cither coal or wood; all that is necessary is a good supply of old newspapers. These are rolled lengthwise and then tied in a tight knot—the tighter the better. A fair amount of muscular strength is. required in tying them properly, and wire is better than string. After the fire is lighted with a loose newspaper they are put on, and the result is a glowing fire which will last all the evening, with a few paper knobs added occasionally. If they burn too quickly, all that is necessary is to dampen them. THRIFT.
