STEAMER DAMAGED.

WAIMARINO STRIKES WHARF,

As she was berthing at the western side of Prince's wharf, on her arrival from Wellington this morning, the Union Company's steamer Waimarino was caught by the tide and swung heavily against the wharf. Her stem was buckled and bent to starboard, one of the plates on the starboard side was fractured, and rivets near where the stem had taken the impact were sprung , . The damage being well above the water-line, the vessel will not have to be docked for repairs, which will be carried out at the wharf. The steamer is to sail for Southern ports on Wednesday.
